Murcia North West team run a stall at the Calasparra market

Cecilia Coulson and the Murcia North West team run a stall at the Calasparra market on the first and third Friday of each month. “The Spanish residents have shown a great interest in what MABS does and we are handing out information leaflets in Spanish. I am hoping that they will want to get involved in the work that we do.” said Cecilia.

Calasparra Ayuntamiento has kindly provided the stall free of charge, giving MABS a chance to get the message out to the local community and recruit volunteers. “We have already had one couple enquire about help and they are relieved that we can be called upon if they need it.” Cecilia remarked.

MABS Murcia/Mar Menor covers a large geographic area, so the satellite branches in the Fortuna, Calasparra and Cehegin areas are vital. If you need help, please call the MABS helpline number: 693 275 779

Our monthly meetings are held in the Poolside Restaurant at the Miraflores Club in Mijas Costa on the fourth Tuesday of every month (next meeting on February 22^nd 2011). Everyone is welcome to come along; we start the meetings at 11:30am.

3^rd APRIL 2011. RACE FOR LIFE, MORAIRA.

The race will start at the MABS Support Centre, Sol Park, Moraira at 11am but please there at 10:30 for a warm up session.  

The race will be over a 5km FLAT course.  

The Centre will be open on the four Fridays before the 3^rd April from 10:00 'til 12:00 for registration, sponsorship and Tee Shirts.

Entry cost is 10 Euro per adult and 5 Euro per child.

Please note: After the sad event of last year - NO ANIMALS please.

A Generous Donation by the Camposol Golf Association

The Camposol Golf Association recently held the Camposol Charity Shield Competition.

There were 86 entrants and the winners were the Pawson family.

Peter Bowker, Club Captain, presented MABS Cancer Support Group with a very generous cheque for 3,000€. The cheque was received by MABS President, Jacqueline Phillips MBE. Jacqui was supported by Fran Sears, MABS Mazarron Director, and Bev Thompson, MABS Mazarron Treasurer along with other members of the Mazarron team.

Fran Sears, Pat Hankinson, Ann Walmsley and Marjorie Drummond had all manned the MABS Cancer Support Group stall at the event and all were present to receive the very welcome funds. MABS relies solely on the generous donations of our sponsors and fundraising by such events as this.

La Marina Ladies Club Generously Donate to MABS

On February 1^st at the Hillside Sports Centre in La Marina,  MABS Coordinator, Bob Clayton, presented a ‘Certificate of Appreciation’ to the Committee of the La Marina Ladies Club.

The ladies had generously chosen MABS, Butterfly and Cunningham Nurses as the three charities to benefit from their latest activities and Bob thanked the group for their contribution to MABS of Euro 200 .
